For our Short Film Award 2013 we put out a call for submissions for short films relating to the Reel Islington Film Festival 2013 theme of ‘A Place Called England’.
We received numerous high quality films covering a wide range of genres and formats. At the Short Film Award & Screening judges Adam Roberts and Ben Woolford gave honourable mentions to Emma Barnie for ‘Still Life’ and Bruno Ramos for ‘Factory’, before revealing that the winner of this year’s award is Andy Oxley for his film ‘White English Men’.

• Adam Roberts is a filmmaker and long-standing adviser on the Film4 Channel. Together with Archipelago director Joanna Hogg, Roberts runs A Nos Amours, a collective dedicated to programming over-looked, under-exposed or especially potent cinema. His films Stiletto and Remake have just come out on filmarmalade dvds. He once was film editor and has tried his hand at shooting, writing and sound recording. He has worked on 8mm, 35mm, miniDv and HD video. A paper on dance film will come out soon in the International Journal of Screen Dance.
• Tim Robey has been reviewing films, interspersed with the occasional interview, for the Telegraph since 2000. He read classics at University College, Oxford, and was runner-up for best arts journalist in both the Guardian and Independent Student Media Awards in 1999. He has been a UK media correspondent for Variety, and co-edited The DVD Stack (Canongate), a guide to the best versions of films available globally
